How Do You Know You Need a Root Canal?

If you need a root canal, then you might be in so much pain that you can’t enjoy life or concentrate on getting any work done.

Your dental health is important, not only for your own comfort but for your overall well-being. If you need a root canal, then you might be in so much pain that you can’t enjoy life or concentrate on getting any work done. Here are some of the indications that you will need this procedure done to relieve the pain from any potential infections.

Dental Pain

If your teeth hurt, then you know how uncomfortable life can be. This is one of the earliest symptoms of something wrong with your mouth. Your dental health needs to be preserved, but just because you have some pain doesn’t mean you automatically assume that a root canal is an answer. However, if the pain interferes with your ability to chew and eat, or putting pressure on your teeth in any way – especially when brushing your teeth, then it could be time to schedule an appointment.

Sensitive Teeth

Do you ever experience sensitive teeth? It could be another source of your tooth pain, but if you have tried other solutions and nothing has worked, then a root canal may be the answer here. Most of the time, eating something hot or drinking something cold will trigger it. Whatever is causing the sensitivity, take it away. If you are experiencing discomfort, then you will need the root canal procedure.

Inflamed Gums

Taking care of your teeth is easy to do. However, you might not think about taking care of your gums. Gum disease can get even worse when you need a root canal. Any infections in your mouth are caused by bacteria that can get in through cavities in your teeth. If your gums hurt, then they are probably swollen as well. Consult your dentist and ask them what the best course of action is. If you see small bumps on them that normally not there, then it’s another sign that something is seriously wrong. Although it sounds like a painful procedure, getting a root canal now can prevent other problems later on.
